Nottingham-based specialist distributor ArtSystems will be supporting MakerBot at the upcoming TCT Show, scheduled to take place on 28th and 29th September 2016 at the NEC in Birmingham.

TCT is one of the world's leading events dedicated to 3D printing, additive manufacturing and product development. Representatives from ArtSystems will be present on the MakerBot stand (A12) throughout the two-day event.

The full range of MakerBot 3D printers will be shown on the stand along with education solutions centred on the “MakerBot in the classroom” concept. The key focus will be on how MakerBot’s wider ecology (including Thingiverse) is being applied practically in the learning experience.

Thingiverse is a dedicated free online facility from which MakerBot users can download exciting and challenging printable designs, from a full sized “bristle dress” to a mediaeval fortress or a working model of a car engine.

Ted Freer, Division Manager Design at MakerBot, explains: “The speed and ease with which MakerBot can reduce the gap between original idea and physically realised concept will be the driving theme for the show. In the design sector MakerBot improves creativity in prototyping and gives students and designers the ability to rapidly explore new ideas using high quality 3D models. In the education sector MakerBot enables brand new learning experiences that quickly translate pure, intellectual concepts into solid models.

“We are at a turning point in the 3D sector with more and more new users discovering the potential this technology offers. Our presence at TCT is aimed at widening that experience and helping create easy routes through which educators new to 3D can adopt and benefit from this technology.”
