LFR Spotlight on ArtSystems Media Product Specialist Gemma Norman

LFR Spotlight on ArtSystems’ Media Product Specialist Gemma Norman.

Following her appointment as Media Product Specialist at systems distributor and service provider ArtSystems last year, LFR caught up with Gemma Norman to find out how she is settling into the new role and to discuss some of the key developments she has experienced so far.

Gemma has been with ArtSystems since 2019, when she joined the company as an Internal Account Manager within the supplies team. Although she had a background in sales, Gemma was new to the large-format print sector, but soon developed a passion for the market, driven by her interest in the creative industries.

“Since joining ArtSystems I have been able to develop my knowledge and the technical aspects of digital print, as well as establish a solid understanding of the product solutions we offer to the industry,” Gemma said.

“In 2022, my role progressed into a Media Product Specialist, allowing me to support our internal sales team and customer base where product solutions require a more technical understanding. In addition, I am able to interpret market trends and identify any gaps in our product ranges.”

Gemma is also involved in the testing and feedback of new product solutions before they reach the market. With ArtSystems being the official beta tester for a number of key vendors, Gemma plays a key role in deciding which new products are added to the ArtSystems range and made available to customers.

“I feel being involved at these stages is a great asset when communicating with my customers as I’m in a position to give real first-hand information and experience in handling these products for their intended applications,” Gemma said.

Gemma has already seen a number of new products come to market, but one solution that stands out in particular is Easy Dot Matt PET. Launched last year, Easy Dot Matt PET is a PVC-free version of Neschen’s leading Easy Dot product, certified for indoor and outdoor use for up to two years.

The product contains 25% post-consumer recycled content, which means a 40% material saving that helps the user significantly reduce waste volume. Gemma said these environmental credentials are extremely important in a market where rising demand for more sustainable products shows no signs of slowing down.

“Easy Dot PET is PVC-free, phthalate free, plasticiser free, volatile organic compound free and solvent free, meaning no harmful chemicals are used or released during the manufacturing, useful life or disposal of the product at end of life,” Gemma said.

In addition to the clear environmental benefits, Easy Dot Matt PET also offers some performance benefits too.

“When we tested this product, we also found it easy to handle and load on the HP Latex 800W due to the higher rigidity. It stays nice and flat which greatly reduces any risk of potential head crashes compared to other PVC-based products.

“It is printable with latex, UV-curable and UV-gel inks, while offering fast, easy and bubble-free application on flat surfaces, and has a fire rating of B-s1,d0 according to EN 13501, opening up its use in a wide range of projects.”

ArtSystems is currently running a promotion on Neschen Easy Dot Matt PET. For more information, or to request a sample, please email sales@artsystems.co.uk or call on 0115 9380 380
